What is inside a Goo Jitzu hero

A field guide to Goo Jitzu fillings: crunchy beads, water goo, sand, glitter and glow, and how each one changes the way a hero plays.

What is inside a Goo Jitzu hero

The skin comes first

Before the goo, there is the skin: a soft, rubbery shell thick enough to take a full pull from two kids and thin enough that you feel everything underneath it. The head, hands and feet are usually solid, which gives small fingers something to grip. Everything between them is fair game for stretching.

Then the filling picks the fighting style

FillingHow it feelsBest for
Crunchy beadsGrinds and clicks under your thumb, with a bumpy surface you can see through the skin.Kids who like sound with their squeeze.
Water gooThick, smooth and slow. The longest stretch in the dojo.Tug-of-war and record attempts.
Soft sandDense and mouldable. Press a thumbprint in and watch it fade.Splat play and quiet fidgeting.
Glitter gooLike water goo with sparkle drifting through it.Display on a windowsill between fights.
Glow surgeCharges under a lamp and glows green after dark.Bedtime battles under the blanket.

How to tell before you open the box

Every pack names its filling on the front, and most have a try-me window so you can press the chest in the aisle. Online, the product title usually carries the word: crunchy, squishy, gooey, sand-filled, glow. In our roster the filling sits in the spec table of every hero.

Sensei's tip: if a child already owns one filling, pick a different one for the second hero. The contrast is what turns two figures into a collection.
